About 1,000 ISIS terrorists remain in Syria
Col. Ryan Dillon, a spokesman for the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve says about 1,000 ISIS terrorists remain in Syria.
Dillon told the Military.com media outlet “Up to this moment, we had an estimate of less than 3,000 [terrorists]… But the latest estimate we received today was, there’s about 1,000 across Iraq and Syria,”
The Russians have broken the numbers down to about 750 militants at the Shaddadi camp and around 350 at the At-Tanf camp which is currently blocked by the Syrian government forces.
Russia’s General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, says the US is hosting training camps for militant groups in Syria, including former ISIS fighters who fled from Raqqa.
The general also said the US has been using a refugee camp in northeast Syria, outside the town of Al-Shaddadah in Al-Hasakah province, as a training camp for the remnants of the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) terrorist group, including those evacuated from Raqqa, and other militants.
