High Court: Liberal Hollie Hughes is not eligible to replace Fiona Nash
The High Court finds Liberal Hollie Hughes is not eligible to replace Fiona Nash in the Senate.
Questions over Ms Hughes eligibility were raised over whether she was eligible because she took a government job on the Administrative Appeals Tribunal after losing the election.
Section 44(4) of constitution bans people from holding parliamentary office if they also held an “office of profit under the crown”
Hughes was appointed to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal between losing the 2016 election and the Senate recount
