Queensland Labor’s Building Plan provides a blueprint for industry confidence
The Palaszczuk Government releases the new Queensland Building Plan (QBP) for the state’s $45 billion building and construction sector.
Minister for Housing and Public Works Mick de Brenni said the QBP is a blueprint for ongoing confidence and growth for the industry.
“The Queensland Building Plan is the result of almost two years of consultation with industry and the community,” Mr de Brenni said.
“We’ve already progressed many of the significant reforms proposed in the QBP.
“It includes important areas of reform such as Queensland’s nation leading work to deal with non-conforming building products like dangerous cladding.”
Mr de Brenni said Labor’s historic reforms that will help subcontractors get paid in full, on time and every time. The plan was passed through the Parliament earlier this week.
Minister for Housing and Public Works said the Palaszczuk Government is also undertaking significant reforms to streamline and modernise the licencing system to keep Queenslanders safe.
“We will be progressing reforms to improve access to adult change facilities in public buildings, supporting greater dignity for people with a disability and their carers.
“And we have made sensible changes to the relevant code to cut red-tape for solar hot water installation—saving Queenslanders up to $200 on a system.
“This is a comprehensive plan to secure the future of the sector and I would like to thank everyone who has had their say on the proposed reforms.”
