Turkey: Reina Bar Possible Terrorist Identified
According to multiple sources, the attacker is 28-year-old Iakhe (or Lakhe) Mashrapov, a citizen of the post-Soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan. A photograph of Mashrapov’s passport has now been published in the media. It is alleged he fought for ISIS in Syria at one stage.
Turkish state media on Tuesday revealed a video of the suspected perpetrator of the deadly terrorist attack at Istanbul’s Reina nightclub.
The video appears to be a selfie shot by the suspect himself while he was walking across Istanbul’s Taksim square.
Earlier today, the Kyrgyz foreign ministry called the possibility of a Kyrgyz attacker “unlikely.” The Ministry has been previously criticized for its approach to counter-terrorism.

Popular clubs and coffee shops in the Etiler, Bebek, Arnavutköy, Ortaköy, Nişantaşı, Cihangir, Asmalımescit and Karaköy districts remained closed following the attack. Usually busy streets housing renowned venues have also seen a sharp fall in patrons.
