Trump Wants Cheaper Fighter Jet
“President-elect” Donald Trump has been on twitter, again, and said that the Pentagon’s new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, made by Lockheed Martin, could be replaced with a modified version of the less expensive Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet.
“Based on the tremendous cost and cost overruns of the Lockheed Martin F-35 I have asked Boeing to price-out a comparable F-18 Super Hornet!” Trump tweeted.
According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office the USA ‘s Department of Defense’s plans on securing 2,158 F-35s by 2038 for an estimated $265 billion.
The comments were made a day after meeting with Boeing bosses.
