Turnbull Government Looking To Cut Kindy Funding
“Simon Birmingham let the cat out of the bag when it comes to kindy funding,” said Queensland Education Minister Kate Jones today at the Council of Australian Government’s meeting in Melbourne.
According to Ms Jones the Federal Education Minister Simon Birmingham indicated for the very first time that the Turnbull Government might be walking away from the National Partnership Agreement in providing young access to kindergartens.
Mr Birmingham has stated that more funding for education will not improve the education standards and outcomes in Australia.
Ms Jones said “I am deeply concerned by the Federal Education Minister’s comments concerning the national partnership.”
“We know how important access to kindergarten is for a child’s education”
“In Queensland we have seen the number of children participating in kindergarten almost quadruple since 2008 when the national partnership was established.”
