Senator Cormann: [Domestic Violence Leave] Not Something That We Are Attracted To – It Will Cost The Economy
Speaking to Sky News Senator Cormann said the Goverment believes that mandated Domestic Violence Leave would be another cost to the Australian economy and it will have an impact on our Australia’s competitiveness.
“These are matters my good friend and colleague [Employment Minister] Michaelia Cash has addressed in detail.” said the Senator.
“It’s not something that we are attracted to.”
The Senator also stated “Arguably the Turnbull Government is providing the strongest investment ever in addressing domestic violence,”.
Under Tony Abbott as Prime Minister, the Liberals cut $583 million from domestic violence services .
The Victorian and Queensland premiers are pushing for a national agreement on domestic violence leave.
