The reality is these words by Mr Shorten and nothing but an understatement. The Federal Government led by Prime Minister Turbull has lurched from one disaster to the next and has shown no strong will or backbone.

The year 2016 has shown that Turnbull as Prime Minister has no backbone and caves into the bullies on the far right of his party. They say jump and he asks “how high?”.Turnbull is not being a Prime Minister for all Australians, all he is working towards is his own survival. This means that he will do and say anything to placate the far right, extreme racist elements of the Liberal National coalition.

Australians had high hopes when Turnbull became Prime Minister. They thought he would reverse the damage done by the former deposed Prime Minister. They thought there would be real action on climate change, there would be action for real, genuine equal human rights for all Australians.

Turnbull promised he had a plan for Australia but when we look at the so called achievements of the Prime Minister’s plan it is clear he has no plan. Australia has lost 100,000 full-time jobs and octupled the deficit. The 2015-16 budget deficit blew out eightfold—from $4.7 billion to just under $40 billion.

Turnbull and his government have done nothing but sell out the Australian people from day one. And the Australian people have noticed. When Turnbull became Prime Minister after knifing the former prime minister, Tony Abbott, Mr Turnbull had one of the highest approval ratings A Prime Minister could wish for. This week Mr Turnbull has some of the lowest approval ratings a Prime Minister in Australia has ever had.

Turnbull and his Government get a “F” for 2016. The Prime Minister and his Government have no backbone, no unity and Australians are suffering for it.
