Prominent Chinese human rights lawyer Zhou Shifeng will face prosecution from the Chinese Government. Zhou is being charged with subverting state power.
Zhou has been held by the government in secret detention. The detention has been part of a government crackdown on dissent.
Zhou Shifeng is the director of the Beijing Fengrui law firm which has represented a number of prominent dissident clients and has been accused of orchestrating demonstrations outside courts so as to attract international attention.
A number of lawyers attached the Zhou’s firm have been caught in the government crackdown on dissidents since last July. The Chinese government says it has been cracking down on dissidents in the interests of national security and civil stability.
