Abbott: Look After Business In Office, They Should Look After You In Retirment
In a speech responding to retiring MPs valedictory speech, the deposed former Prime Minister said he hoped the mining sector will acknowledge and demonstrate their gratitude to Ian McFarlane in his years of retirement from parliament after he scrapped the Mining Tax.
He also revealed in his speech that he once accepted an envelope that had $5,000 in from a wealthy business-man. He said, “the Abbott family in those days could have used that money, but it did not feel right.” Even though he said that it didn’t feel right he had to get advice from Senator Bill Heffernan who told him to return it.
