Victorian authorities are set to be given stronger powers to tighten the net on serious sex offenders.
In Victoria, when parole Boards and Courts make decisions regarding serious sex offenders community safety will be paramount.

‘Dangerous offenders who are an unacceptable risk to the community should not be in the community “said Premier Daniel Andrews.
The new laws that will be presented to parliament today will introduce a mandatory minimum term of 12 months imprisonment for intentional or reckless breach.
Police will also be allowed to hold serious sex offenders out charge for longer and they will also be provided with new
search and seizure powers when supervising serious sex offenders.

Acting Minister for Corrections Robin Scott commented: “we will
not hesitate to make further reforms to keep Victorians safe.”
