Civil War In The Liberal Party – The Tip Of The Iceberg & Australians Are The Losers

The civil war in the Liberal Party is much worse than what is playing out in the public arena. The civil war is a bit like an iceberg; we only see the tip of it. The disunity of the Liberal Party is coming through day by day. As in any civil war, it is the citizens that suffer.

Effectively Australia has two Prime Ministers, the deposed Former Prime Minister and the Current Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who pushed the knife into the back of the former. Tony Abbott challenges Malcolm Turnbull’s leadership on a range of issues from national security right through to taxation, right through to how to handle the Budget.

The unelected Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, has fired back saying he will “set the record straight”. In many peoples’ views, to set the record straight Malcolm Turnbull has in essence authorised a journalistic version of a counter-strike on Tony Abbott through Niki Savva’s book. As Bill Shorten said, “This shows that the Liberal Party are only worried about who the Prime Minister is”. It is evident they are not concerned about Australia.

Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull are in the middle of a major dysfunctional political civil war and Australians are the losers. Malcolm Turnbull used to have passion and believe in everything from the Republic, real action on climate change, marriage equality through to a vote in the Parliament on it. Now because of the Liberal Party’s civil war he has bought into the far right of the Liberal Party’s agenda, to save his own skin. The civil war in the Liberal Party has made the government politically weak and frozen at the wheel.

The real challenge facing Australia is – “what is the government doing?”

What is the government doing about unemployment? Unemployment has become so bad that people have given up looking for work.

What is the government doing about making sure that younger Australians will be able to achieve the grand Australian dream of being able to buy their first home? The simple answer is…. nothing!

What is the government doing to make sure that our schools and hospitals don’t slip further backwards? The simple answer is…. nothing! In fact, they are cutting funding. Just recently a clinic that helps homeless and disadvantaged people will close due to funding cut from the federal government.

What is the government doing to make sure that we look after our pensioners and older Australians? The simple answer is…. nothing! In fact, they have cut pensions while attacking Medicare.

What is the government doing on renewable energy to make sure that we tackle climate change? The simple answer is…. nothing! We have gone backwards.

What is the government doing on marriage equality? There’s a Bill before the Parliament right now about marriage equality and it can be voted on– the majority of Australian are in favour of it. However, due to the civil war in the Liberal Party, an unhealthy obsession in the right-wing of the Liberal Party with other people’s sexuality is now dominating the conversation. The simple answer is…. nothing!

These are the big issues but due to the civil war in the Liberal Party, nothing is happening to advance Australia and to fix the significant issues.

However, all we see from the Liberal Party is the ongoing civil war and division. Malcolm Turnbull is contorting himself, turning into a man that he’s not, turning out that he’s an imposter. They are too busy fighting themselves than they are fighting for Australians.

The reality of the situation is he is misleading Australia now on what he says and does, with his views on everything from marriage equality to tax reform, or he never believed his original views to begin with.

As already mentioned, Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull are in the midst of a major dysfunctional civil war and Australians are the loser.

Here is my open letter to Turnbull. We are likely at opposite sides of the political spectrum, but Turnbull is no leader. Imagine if you voted a party in on leftist principles, and it changed radically to a modest to conservative position. You would not be very happy. It would be as if the Labor Party dumped Shorten and put Tim Wilson in as PM. Here is my open letter: https://passthetorchblog.wordpress.com/2016/03/16/open-letter-to-malcolm-turnbull/
