Greens Vote With Government Against More Transparency In Political Donations
In a blow for transparency the Australian Greens voted with the government against lowering the threshold for political donations. Labor moved amendments in the senate so that the disclosure threshold on political donations is lowed.
Labor has accused the Greens of playing lame on this issue. The Coalition opposes lowering the disclosure threshold to $1,000 because they say the system is fine.
Labor’s Doug Cameron the Greens as recently as February 24 were demanding immediate action on disclosure and donations he also went on to say They are an absolutely pathetic mob. You can’t trust a word that comes out of Senator Di Natale’s mouth. They really are a do nothing mob.”
In voting with the Government Green senator Lee Rhiannon said “The intent here is not about political donations…”
