QLD AG: QLDLNP Still Have Questions To Answer Over $100,000 Donations

The Attorney General of Queensland Yvette D’Ath has said the LNP still have questions to answer after the Electoral Commission of Queensland stated that they would no longer pursue the LNP over the anonymous donations.

Ms D’Ath said “People will rightly ask – what are the LNP trying to hide by keeping $100,000 in donations completely secret,”

LNP in Queensland accepted 28 donations up to the value of $100,000. The LNP have been unable to put names to the gifts and donations. The Electoral Act states that it is illegal for political parties to receive donations from anonymous donors.

During the ultra-rightwing anti-worker Newman Government’s term, the one term Premier Campbell Newman raised the donation declaration threshold from $1,000 to $12,800. This lead to the 28 donations totalling $100,000 not being declared.

Ms D’Ath has also stated that the LNP is in breach of its own Party rules and fundraising guidelines.
