The Government’s Border Force unit is allegedly prevented lawyers for Baby Asha’s family contacting the family.
The family’s lawyers, the Human Rights Law Centre, have stated that they had been blocked for three days from contacting the family. The also state that access was only granted after the Law Centre made a public statement. Asha’s mother was given a phone on Monday evening so she could contact the lawyers.
Daniel Webb of the HRLC said the last few days has been an emotional day for the family.
Baby Asha and her family are now in community detention but the Minister for Immigration has said the family will end up being sent back to Nauru.
