As the Liberal Party is imploding and the fallout of Turnbull’s election as Prime Minister and Abbott’s disposal, Liberal Party statesman an elder of the party, Eric Abetz is calling on disenfranchised Liberal party members to keep the faith. This comes the day after former Prime Minister Tony Abbott calling on members to vote for the coalition at the next election through gritted teeth.
Mr Abetz said in a letter to members that it is disappointing to hear of a state of resignations from the party and of others threatening not to renew their membership over the election of Malcolm Turnbull as Prime Minister.
Many on the right to far right wing of the Conservative Liberal party feel that they have been dudded by the election of Malcolm Turnbull as Prime Minister. Earlier this week Nationals’ Barnaby Joyce said on Q&A that he was not happy with the way that Tony Abbott had been deposed as Prime Minister. There have even been calls by many in the party on the far right for Cory Bernardi to resign and form his own ultra right wing party.
