Qld: Palaszczuk Government Set To Restore Civil Partnerships 

Civil partnership affirmation ceremonies are set to be restored in Queensland with the Attorney General,Yvette D’Ath, set to introduce a bill to allow couples of any gender and sexual orientation to register the relationship.

Queensland Premier Ms Palaszczuk said the Government is committed to restoring the civil partnership & ceremony positions so that couples of any gender can participate in an official ceremony and declare the dedication to each other.

The Queensland Premier stated “We are restoring this right-which was first permitted under a Labor government and then taken away as one of the first acts of the former LNP -Because every Queensland couple should have this right”

The premier also highlighted that it would allowd hetrosexual couples who would want to afirm their relationship but not take the step of actually getting married and same-sex couples having the same right as well.
