Opposition Leader, Bill Shorten, said today that Tony Abbott has taken Australian politics to a very unpleasant place.
Mr Shorten stated that while in opposition, Tony Abbott was the leading champion of negative politics and “he hasn’t shed those clothes since he became Prime Minister”.
When speaking about his rescent apperance at the Trade Union Royal Commision Mr Shorten said “I was happy to answer all the questions, I’m proud of my record of improving people’s conditions, of cooperative industrial relations between workers and companies – proud of that.”
“I’ll back my record standing up for workers against the Prime Minister for WorkChoices,”
Mr Shorten also commented that Australians want better from their political representatives than a personality attack.
He also highlited that the next election should be on who has got a better plan for jobs, education and health. “Health, education, jobs and fairness. That’s what Australians are interested in. A plan for the future. Not a political smear campaign.” commented Mr Shorten
