A number of celebrities and politicians joined in the anti-austerity march such asRussell Brand, Green MP Caroline Lucas, UK Labour leadership hopeful Jeremy Corbyn, singer Charlotte Church, along with others. While supporters were protesting against cuts made to social services and the destruction of the civil society in the UK, one conservative MEP, Daniel Hannan tried to dismiss the large crowd of support for the end to austerity.
Daniel Hannan who by his twitter page describes himself as “an Old Whig. Columnist with CapX, ConservativeHome and the Washington Examiner. Author of ‘How we Invented Freedom’. Conservative MEP. Loves Europe, not the EU.” Mr Hannan dismissed the anti-austerity rally in the UK by implying that only a small minority of people support the anti-austerity cause.
