Pitcairn Island Legalises Same Sex Marriage
Pitcairn Island is a British colony with its own assembly but a population of only 56, making it the world’s tiniest democracy.
Australian Marriage Equality national director, Rodney Croome, said, “The majority of Australians who support marriage equality will be bewildered and frustrated that we are falling behind places as diverse as Catholic Mexico and tiny Pitcairn Island.”
Mr Croome also highlighted that Australia’s international reputation will for as long marriage equality is delayed in Australia.
