Israel: Over 100,000 go to Gay Pride Tel Aviv 2015

Over 100,000 people attended Gay Pride Tel Aviv 2015 over the weekend. The are some situates that 180,000 were in attendance. This weekend’s Pride march marks the 16th anniversary of the annual event in Tel Aviv.

Those who attended also took part in demonstration demanding civil marriages be allowed in Israel. the even was even attended by right-wing government ministers showing there support of gay rights in Israel.

One of those who attended the event was Miri Regev who is a member of the right wing Likud party and a former Brigadier-general in the Israel Defense Forces, in which she served as IDF Spokeswoman.

A translation of the post reads :”A true celebration, joy and lots of smiles pride parade in Tel Aviv.
I turned to march together with members of the Likud LGBT booth and it was just fun.
I met members of the gay community that has a future and Meretz, which we all share, there is no difference between left and right, there is no difference between religious and secular, or men and women, all are in favor of acceptance and equal rights for everyone.
So those who are still celebrating, continue to enjoy.”

Gay Pride Tel Aviv is the largest celebration of gay rights in the region. Israelis as one of the world’s most gay-friendly travel destinations in recent years, in sharp contrast to the rest of the Middle East where gay culture is not tolerated and gays are persecuted and even killed.
