Once again the Prime Minister has stated that the environment and climate change are not his priority and neither is the environmental future of Australia on his radar as well.
During a doorstop interview in Burma, Prime Minister Tony Abbott said that “I’m focusing not on what might happen in 16 years’ time,” when asked if Australia’s pledge to cut emissions by five per cent is far inferior to the deal that’s been done between the United States and China.
Abbott has said that his focus will be on economic reform, economic growth, how Australia drives growth and jobs. He said that it is his “constant preoccupation” and not the environment. Bill Shorten earlier said that Tony Abbott had egg on his face because of the US-China deal and their pledge to cut emissions by up to 28 per cent compared to Australia’s five per cent.
