US Secretary of Defence: The USA Will Continue To Plan And Prepare For Iraq Further Military Options If Needed
The US Secretary of Defence ,Chuck Hagel, stated that The Department of Defense will continue to plan and prepare further military options should they become necessary, and that the USA will remain ready to protect their diplomats, citizens, and interests in Iraq.
Secretary Hagel, stated on Thursday (US time) that the department of defence supports President Obama’s decision to deploy U.S. military personnel to advise the Iraqi security forces.
The special operators that are being sent to Iraq will assess the situation on the ground, while helping to evaluate gaps in Iraqi security forces, and increase their capacity to counter the threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
he US Secretary of Defence repeated the same message of the President that Iraq’s problems cannot be resolved through the use of American action alone, or through the use of the USA’s military force alone.
The department of the defence also stated that the only viable, long-term solution is a political one that brings together the Iraqi people and addresses the legitimate interests and concerns of all of Iraq’s communities. In a statement the depart of defence said “Iraq’s government must summon the courage to unite and lead all of its people.”
