Stand Up Against Domestic And Family Violence In May!

Every May people are encouraged to stand up against Domestic And Family Violence and to beware of what domestic and family violence is.

Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month is held during May each year to raise community awareness and promote a clear message that domestic and family violence will not be tolerated in our communities.

Men and Women are both victims of domestic and family violence, however the majority of people who experience domestic violence are women.

The majority of violence against men is committed by other men. Of men who reported that they had experienced physical violence in the 12 months before the survey, 73.7% said that the perpetrator was a male.

Just under half a million Australian women reported that they had experienced physical or sexual violence or sexual assault in the past 12 months.

Every year people die from domestic and family violence—even when there has been no history of physical violence. All forms of violence and controlling and obsessive behaviours should be taken seriously.
