Australia’s 28th Prime Minster has been sworn in

In a ceremony at Government House- Canberra lead by the Governor General Quentin Bryce. Tony Abbott has became Australia’s 28th Prime Minister.

Tony Abbott is the right wing conservative leader of Liberal National Party – the coalition.  Warren Truss the leader of national party in the coalition was sworn in as the Deputy Prime Minister.

One of the first acts of the new government is to start drafting laws on the dismantling of the Carbon Pricing system that the previous Labor Government has enacted to combat climate change along with the abolishing of the Climate Change Authority and commission.

12,000 jobs with in the Public Service have also been slated to be axed from the Federal Commonwealth Government. Most of which will be in Canberra. Joe Hockey, the new Treasurer for Australia stated in May before the election that this cuts were just the start.

Unions are also a target of the new government who have said that they will be tackling “union corruption” as well as their right to enter work places and to restrict their ability to talk members and non members with in the work place.

The new Prime Minster has already come under attack from with in his own party about the make up of his cabinet. Only one woman made it into the cabinet –Julie Bishop as Foreign Minister. LNP Senator Sue Boyce stated “I think it’s shocking and I think it’s embarrassing, and it’s not just embarrassing nationally but I think it’s embarrassing internationally,”
