The Israeli-Gaza conflict: Iran’s War with Israel

It has come out that the weaponry used by Hamas came from Iran. Irans finger prints were all over the weapons  used in the conflict.

The Fajr-5s were put together within Gaza after being shipped from Iran via Egypt’s Sinai region from where they are smuggled into Gaza through smuggling tunnels.

Two Palestinian militant groups – Islamic Jihad and Hamas – have claimed to have fired Fajr-5s. Hamas calls its rockets “Palestinian made” and does not acknowledge receiving weapons from Iran, although it does refer to Iran as a “supporter of the resistance.” While the leader of the Palestinian branch of Islamic Jihad has confirmed that the longer range, more sophisticated rockets being launched at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem were supplied by Iran.

Wikileaks reposted on Twitter a link to a 2009 diplomatic cable, first leaked last year, detailing Israeli intelligence on how Iran was supplying Hamas with long-range weapons and how such artillery was being brought into Gaza. The report in parts read:

“HAMAS had ……… Iranian made 122mm rockets with a range out to 30 kilometers.  The Iranian version of the 122mm was designed specifically for HAMAS, as it came in four pieces that could fit through narrow tunnels and be reassembled in Gaza……… HAMAS also had SA-7 surface-to-air missiles and sophisticated improvised explosive devices of all varieties……..Israel has sensitive intelligence that Iran is constructing an additional HAMAS-specific missile, based on the Fajr, that will have a range beyond 40 kilometers.”

Ali Larijani said to the parliament in Iran that “We are proud to defend the people of Palestine and Hamas ” he also added “assistance to them has been both financial and military,”

While  Jafari said  The Fajr 5 missiles launched at Tel Aviv “have not been delivered from Iran, but their technology has,”, he also stated that they are “rapidly produced” in Gaza.

Jafari continued to comment: “Iran provides technical assistance to all Muslims who fight against world arrogance,” a term used by Iranian officials to describe the West and Israel.
